Isaac Hobby
« on: Tuesday 22 May 18 17:56 BST (UK) »
Hi
I have a brickwall.

6th great grandfather - Isaac Hobby - believed to have been born in or close to Corfe Mullen in Dorset - somewhere around 1660 to 1670.....the brickwall is his birth - can find his burial, but not his birth.

Also, found he married a Margaret, but no surname..Marriage about 1668..Corfe Mullen..Looking for her surname.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you
Richard

Richard-
Your marriage date cannot be right if Isaac was born 1660-1670.
There is a marriage in Corfe Mullen 28/5/1698 between a Isaac Hoby and Breget Hussey . Not sure if that can equate to Margaret

He married Bridget Hussey as you say in 1698...Margaret(t) I believe was born in Wool,  Dorset in or about 1661..she died in Corfe Mullen in 1693. Her burial was 10 Apr 1693..

Isaac Hobby or a derivation of that surname, was born I believe between 1660 and 1670...could be even a few years sooner...say 1655 or thereabouts..

His will mentions land in Beer, so it might be worth looking there.

There is an Isaac Hobby who is witness to the will of Stephen Hobby in 1712, so they may be related. Stephen's will mentions his wife Mary, and children Stephen, William, Elizabeth and Susana. He had married Mary UDALL in 1677 in Worth Matravers and they had children in Milborne St Andrew, so that might be two more places to look.
(This may not be the same Isaac Hobby; there appear to be two or three around at that time).
