RFC /RAF unit codes
« on: Tuesday 22 May 18 22:04 BST (UK) »
Two of my father's uncles (brothers) enlisted with the RAF towards the end of WW1. I have managed to decipher the RFC/RAF unit codes for one brother but am running up against a wall with the second.

From other posts I have RD as Farnborough but are RD(D) and RD(R) also Farnborough?

The units I am struggling with are SYHC, 199YS, 200YS, E & PD Renfrew, IDE.
Marske and Eastchurch I understand but the service record is marked in red pen. Are these corrections / edits around the time of his discharge?

Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks for the replies mmm45. Yes, the back of the sheet gives his job description as aero rigger.

That looks highly probable.  I would imagine aircraft riggers were in high demand at flying schools given the number of training accidents!
