John Charlton Beedle military history

Hi,  I am trying to find the military history of my great grandfather,  Private, John Charlton Beedle,   service number, 6139, born 1880 passed away 1961.  was a member of Middlesex Regiment, English regular army, enlisted 8/3/1900 discharged on 4/4/1912 Then moved to Australia and fought in WW1, I have his WW1 records  but nothing earlier,  from Britain,  Thanks for your help.  Rob,

Do you have access to Findmypast which has his record?  Significant bits are UK Mar 00 to Jan 01, India with 1st Battalion Middlesex Jan 01 to April 10, UK Apr 10 to Apr 12.

No i don't have access to findmypast,  is that the best site  to look at,  are there any free sites  to check out,  Thanks  for helping
