He could give what information he liked on his marriage certificate, it would not have been checked.

But shouldn't he of put divorced and not bachelor I was just checking his marriage certificates and bachelor is what they  state.

His 2nd wifes divorce papers state she divorced her husband because of his adultery.
She also states on the certificate that she was divorced and from whom.

Yes you are right he should have stated he was divorced however it is only recently that people had to prove who they were and their status when marrying so if he didn't have his absolute and didn't want to purchase a copy of it, which he possibly thought they would have asked him to do I suppose it was easier to say bachelor....so it may have simply been to save money or save time

Two of my great Grandfathers married twice, they were both widowers  however BOTH waited until their first wife died before they married number 2, one did write widower the other wrote bachelor maybe because he had not seen his 1st wife for 25 yrs while living and having a family with 2nd wife. One also wrote the wrong father on his married cert, he put a different person each time ( although he knew very well who his father was) so people did lie

He could put what he liked, the registrar or priest would accept what he said, there was no check, but there was a penalty of perjury if the information is wilfully false. However the purpose of banns was that anyone could object if they knew of any reason why the marriage could not take place. Also the details would be displayed for the same reason in the Register Office for a marriage there.
