Of the little of the parish register I looked at it was nice and clear to read which makes a change so worth going through page by page.
It's fairly unlikely you will find anything earlier that the parish register and the Applotment books directly linked to your family.
How the Cross family came to be in Ireland is a different sort of search.

This is probably a silly question, but where would I begin to search of how the Cross family arrived in Ireland? There's some lore in the family regarding this. I'd love to prove that lore either right or wrong.

Not a silly question but I don't know the answer, there are so many ways a family can come into the country from soldiers granted land for services rendered to employees of landed gentry brought over to work on their Irish estate and lots more.
