3rd R.M. H.A.A.
« on: Saturday 26 May 18 05:47 BST (UK) »
Hi
I have just found on Find My Past a record of my uncle's death in January 1945 in Belgium - he died of acute appendicitis.
His Unit is given as 3rd R.M. H.A.A.  I presume the R.M is Royal Marines but was wondering what the rest meant? - Was he a commando?
I would appreciate any expert's suggestion.
Thanks

The regiment was part of 5th Royal Marine Anti-Aircraft Brigade manning air defences on the Scheldt and defending Antwerp in the 1944/45 period.
There is a war diary, not digitised, at the National Archives

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

My Uncle is buried at Schoonselhof Cemetery, Krijgsbaan, 2610 Antwerpen, Belgium which fits with your information.
Another document to look at when I get to Kew.
Thanks
