Birth records and parents of Elizabeth Ellen Lawson

Trying to find the parents of Elizabeth Ellen Lawson so I can order her birth certificate from GRO.

Birthdate: approx. 1858 - 1861
Birthplace: Sunderland, Co. Durham, England
Spouse: Giovanni Battista (b. 1847)
Marriage: Oct-Nov-Dec, 1885, Newcastle upon Tyne

1881 England Census Age: 20 (b. ~1861)
1891 England Census Age: 33 (b. ~1858)
1900 (Jul-Aug-Sep) England & Wales Civil Registration Death Index: 42 (b. ~1858)

What I've done:

• Ordered marriage certificate for Elizabeth and Giovanni from GRO 2 weeks ago (probably won't receive it for many weeks, am in New Zealand)
• Looked through FreeBMD for Elizabeth Lawson's born between 1854 - 1863 in Co. Durham, there's 34 of them (5 in Sunderland), could be any of them. Promising lead is Elizabeth Eleanor Lawson, b. 1854 in Sunderland. Only one to have the same (similar) middle name. Although, a middle name could've been added in after birth.

My current plan is to obtain at least the father's name (through the marriage certificate), to try and get the mother and her maiden name. That way, I can search on GRO and locate and order the correct birth certificate.

Would anyone have any suggestions or could help find pieces of information to track down her birth?

In the absence of any other information I would wait until you get the marriage certificate which should contain her father's name and occupation.

Then you'll (hopefully) be in a better position to search for the right family.

Yea, that's what I thought. A shame marriage certificates are not available online (or part of the GRO PDF pilot).

I see they had a child William 1896 with the middle name Armstrong - that might be a family name to Elizabeth.

Already together - she is Lizabetta Batista in 1881. RG11/5062/145/18.

Good point. I searched on GRO birth indexes for Elizabeth Lawson, with the mother's maiden surname as Armstrong (and phonetically similar variations), for years 1850 - 1864, no matches.

Yep, she's with Giovanni in 1881. There's a mistake in the census record, it lists her birthplace as Italy and the first name is the Italian variant. Pretty sure Lizabetta Battista and Elizabeth Ellen Lawson are the same person, around the same age, and Lawson is the mother's maiden name for Pasqualino.
