Hi, could anyone help me to read the bottom paragraph about John Linkston please, I’m hopeless  :)

I think it's McGill.

Thank you both, you’ve been very helpful 😁 I was hoping there were some parents names hidden in there, oh well 😕 is it not possible to see records back that far on SP? That church record was the only record that matched.

Civil registration in Scotland began in 1855.

There are references on My Heritage to John Linkston (born  c 1830) giving parents names as William Linkston (born 1786 in Linlithgow) and Janet Pollock.  John married Agnes Rebecca McGill born 1829 in Newmains.

Clearly you have to research to confirm the above but it may be a help.

If the couple, or any known brothers or sisters, died in Scotland after 1855, then their parents should have been named in their death record.
