Samuel(Sampson) Kingwell
« on: Saturday 26 May 18 14:13 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am trying to find Samuel Kingwell bc1894 Plymouth,Devon. His mother was Jessie Kingwell and father Frederick, a fisherman.
On the 1901 Census he is called ‘Sampson’, on the 1911 ,Samuel. No other siblings. I cannot find a birth registration for him ,a marriage or death. I just cannot trace him after 1911.
I have an Ancestry membership, but can’t find him. Maybe I just can’t see for looking or have missed something. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

No children with them in 1891 and he is their only one in 1901.

Perhaps he was (informally) adopted?  If so, BMD events may have been in his birth surname.

Couple of newspaper articles, maybe your Samuel Kingwell.

Western Daily Mercury 23rd April 1912(not the full article)

"Samuel Kingwell,18,pleaded guilty to playing football in Palace Street, and behaving in a disorderly manner on Good Friday afternoon at 3.30. Fined 2s with alternative of seven days."

23rd June 1922 Western Morning News Plymouth 23rd June 1922(not full article)

A court martial at North raglan Barracks, Devonport involving Pte John Thomson, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. "Samuel Kingwell and William Jas Bovrett corroborated but said they did not recognise accused".
