East India Company
« on: Saturday 26 May 18 21:34 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering if there's any resources online about East India Company as I have discovered that some of my Ancestors were employed by the Company and I'd like to know more about what they did.

Thanks

Ihn addition to the links already supplied I would add The London Gazette https://www.thegazette.co.uk/ has entries on the East India Company going back to 1667.

The East India Company had a civilian bureaucracy and its own army (up to the passing of the Government Of India Act 1858 when the Company was nationalised.  The Company continued until it was dissolved under the East India Stock Dividend Redemption Act 1873.

So, - much would depend on the time-frame and status (civilian or military) of your ancestors as to what they might have done.  Conquest, control, plunder, trade, diplomacy or administration.
