1939 census

As I don't have access to the 1939 census yet I was wondering if anyone could please find out where my Great Uncle was then.
His name was Frederick Weymouth Matthews born 1891 in Birmingham area. He died in Southend on Sea in 1977 but after 1911 when he was in Cardiff with his brothers I have no knowledge and cannot find a marriage either and was hoping the 1939 census may give me something to work on.

You can access for free at most public libraries when they re-open.

IF he is on the register, then he doesn't appear to have used his full name.

If you have his exact date of birth it might help you find him on the register.

Death gives date of birth as 9 Aug 1891. 

It is possible to search the 1939 register without a subscription to FindMyPast or Ancestry.  As it is not a census it does not give place of birth but does have date of birth.

I also found out last week that on the 1939 census he was in Enfield in Middlesex but the shock is it mentions he was married. Now her name is NOT on this census and he died alone (he has no headstone) so what I want to know is 1.
