Electoral register addresses
« on: Monday 28 May 18 01:43 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I've recently started noting down street names and addresses from censuses. I just thought it'd be a bit of fun. I've gathered all I can from the 1939 Register too. I thought I'd list a few couples who were alive in the 1920s and 1930s to see where they were living according to the electoral register:

Alexander and Ellen Mc/MacGregor, north London most likely (Enfield in 1939)
Walter and Eva Goddard, various places in Essex (Hornchurch in 1939 but Braintree, Shalford and Brentwood too)
David Lipman, most likely Finsbury (although moved to Cambridge in 1939 with wife Irene)
Frank and Florence Pepper, various places (including Eltham in 1911, Formby and Cork in 1922; Florence is in West Bridgford in 1930)
George Thorogood, most likely Shalford or Braintree (in Braintree in 1939)
Thomas and Dorothy Salter, most likely Calne (there in 1939)
Mary A. Lipman, most likely Forest Gate (there in 1911) or East Ham (died there in 1936)
Verdant and Caroline Goddard, most likely Finchingfield (1911-1925, then Caroline is in Brentwood by 1939)

I'd appreciate any help!

Adam

Unless an electoral register is online it is only searchable by address.  You would probably need to visit the local office to view them.

Have fun looking for them  ;D

David Lipman, most likely Finsbury (although moved to Cambridge in 1939 with wife Irene)

Finsbury [St Mark ward] E/R 1938
David & Irene Lipman, 8 River Street, Finsbury, Islington E.C.1

EDIT:
They are both in Cambridge in 1939.

Also 3 others at that address in 1938:
Henry Hugo & Violet Stella Giovanna Maley and Victor Ferris.

Suez Road, Cambridge is a very active part of Cambridge today. Multiple sites. On Google.

George Thorogood, most likely Shalford or Braintree (in Braintree in 1939)

There are a fair number of George Thorogood' in Essex in 1939, a Dob or Yob would help to narrow it down, unless you have full details.

An electoral register does not give an age or date of birth so don't see how that would help.  The only thing giving date of birth is the 1939 register and we are not allowed to give Adam details from that.

I agree, Rosie.

But it would help me find the correct one in 1939 and hopefully previous and/or subsequent ones in the E/R's without divulging non-allowed info.
