Looks like this family are in Dundee on the 1881 Census 75 South Tay  Street you can view on Scotlands People LDS census free ..There was a Sarah Jane  Mitchell born 14 April 1872 Dundee
Father James Mitchell
Mother Ann Diamond

Marriage for a James Mitchell to a Ann Diamond 29/11/1851 Perth..
Death for Ann Mitchell other name Diamond 1889 on SP

Might be worth checking out although the husband James does not seem to be with her on census forms

Goodness me...Rose Ann Dowds sound a bit of a minx  ::)

She had numerous court appearance from 1867 to 1901 at least. I haven't got full access/subs to www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk but if you do an 'exact phrase' search of 'Rose Ann Dowds' you will find at least 14 references to her comings and goings....enough text in the clips to give you an idea.

Hi,
Yes RoseAnn got 7years in Perth for stealing a shirt and some boots if my mind serves me right, she was certainly a right one.  I cannot understand if Ann married a James Mitchell, because Roseann’s husband is James Mitchell, unless uncle and nephew are close in ages.

Thanks for all your help, it’s going to cost me a bomb on Scotland’s people again 😬😬

It’s bang my head on the brick wall again time,

I have just looked up the marriage of James and Ann, Beautiful scroll writing, it even tells you who Ann’s father was and where she was from (Londonderry) but is says nothing about who James’s parents were or where he was from aaarrrggghhh

A bit of a mystery trying to find this Ann Mitchell  ??? just thought there might have been some connection with them both being in the same area in 1861 ..Just a pity we can't find anything on Ann's husband James Mitchell to see if he is related to the other James ..

The National Library of Scotland website has town maps for Airdrie, on the 1846 map there is a Bridewell Lane, by 1858 it had changed to Market Street, the prison was situated between Anderson Street and Market Street, the birth may have been in a house in Bridewell Lane and not in the prison.

Hi Donnie, I was hoping I could figure out a way to chat to you - I'm writing about Airdrie/Baxters' Buses in the 40s and 50s. You said your mum was a clippie. Is there a way to message me on this platform? Thanks, Rachael
