Yes it is, but we have no proof of his birth in England or Ireland.  It's another mystery.  His grandmother says he is a militiaman.

Don't know much about searching in England but isn't there a site now which shows the mother's maiden names in the search results, think it belongs to the GRO.
FreeBMD doesn't show mother's from that time.
Liverpool area sounds possible if that is where his mother's moved to after Thomas died.

I have now made great progress with the Gormly research.  I have now found Thomas Gormley (senior) on Griffiths living next door to Francis McCauley, his daughter in law's father, in Henry Street, Enniskillen.  Thomas Gormly senior died in 1869 and I have his death record etc.  I now know that he had two daughters, Catherine and Bridget and that his wife was Rosa ??.  Rosa had died before 1869, and I presume before civil registration.  They were R.C. and I wonder how I could find burial rcords for Thomas and Rosa.  The links in the help section don't seem to be working.  Does anyone know where someone from Henry Street would be buried?

Unfortunately RC parishes weren't much good at keeping death/ burial records.
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0308
There are none filmed for Enniskillen.
Few people from that period could afford headstones so there is often no record of death or grave.

You could have a look here

Thank you Sinann,  No joy I'm afraid,  I will try searching for his wife's surname.  One of their daughters was born in 1843, so maybe I will find a marriage in the church rcords.
