Robert CLATWORTHY Aussie in Vancouver
« on: Friday 01 June 18 07:45 BST (UK) »
Hi, I think I have posted here a couple of years back, but am giving it another go just in case!  Robert Clatworthy was an Australian man who served in WWI. After doing a runner from military prison, he stowed away on a ship which took him to the US. He was last heard of in Vancouver in 1936 when the Secretary of the Provincial Bureau, Ex-Serviceman's league, wrote to the Australian authorities on Clatworthys behalf (He was unable to read or write).

His surname has been variously spelled as CLATWORTHY, CLATEWORTHY, CLATSWORTHY and even CLAPWORTHY.

Can someone please tell me where to look to find a death, burial or marriage for him? And are there any online newspaper sites for Canada that I can search?

Thank you :)

It would be best to revive the earlier post so people can see the history of the search.

Every person over the age of 16 living in Canada in 1940 was required to carry a registration card.  The registration forms are still held by Statistics Canada and for a nominal sum you could obtain Robert's file if one exists.  Go to this site for details.
