« on: Friday 01 June 18 11:10 BST (UK) »
I wrote this blog article many moons ago about a Whitby FC player back in Victorian times.

His death:

Thanks in advance.

A newspaper report in Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette 08 February 1890, records that he 'died this morning'. Therefore his death date would appear to be 8 Feb 1890.

He was buried 11 Feb 1890 at Whitby St Mary the Virgin. Address looks to be Walds Yard, Baxtergate.

Now that ties in with the rumours in town that he'd died
Quote
The semi final of the Scarborough & East Riding Cup was to be played on February 8th, 1890. On the morning of the game there was much shock when the rumour of Albert Drabbles death. Albert had been at home and had collapsed and died.

Thanks for his burial date.

I am tempted to get a pdf of his death certificate but I've have other family history ones that have to take priority.

It'd be interesting to see if a inquest was held and what the outcome was ... still one of these days.

Thanks again everyone :)

Inquest -

Bradford Daily Telegraph 11 February 1890

Albert Drabble had complained about chest pains for some weeks. A Dr Tinley who carried out the postmortem said that Albert died of Angina pectoris and that his death was not due to any external causes.
