I always thought that James was Wesleyan. His wife's father was Daniel Strickland Tatham a renound Wesleyan ministe

& her grandmother Mary Tatham who was quite devout. https://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Memoirs_Of_Mrs_Mary_Tatham_Late_Of_Notti.html?id=oMUyLgEACAAJ&redir_esc=y

Adolphe married Catherine Tatham, they were cousins  (Catherine's father was the brother of Daniel Strickland Tatham).

I'm tracing the family history in the hopes that someone can give me a clue on how the widowed Catherine Brunner ended up taking in a rich unconnected orphan from Japan & raising him?!
Canīt quite follow you.
Who was from Japan
Sorry, a child that Catherine took in after Adolphe died.
Byrne, Butterfield, Gilbert, Sutcliffe, Furey, Alderson, Warham, to name a few!
