India General Service Medal entitlement?
« on: Saturday 02 June 18 15:34 BST (UK) »
Hi, I’ve just received my fathers war service medals.

However, he served in India for 5 years 8 months from 1930 to 1935.

He was. Private in the South Lancs Regt (Prince of Wales Volunteers) and he served in Waziristan.

Would he be entitled to the India General Service Medal?

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

MaxD (as ever) has come up with the answer.

The only thing I would add for clarification is that being stationed abroad does not automatically mean service personnel would be entitled to medals.  They might be awarded a medal, with specific clasps, for campaigns or battles but not for garrison postings in peacetime.
