Looks as though you're right, Geoff, a bit of a loner.  What residency did he give?

Hi,
Does the Place of birth say Shropshire?

You have the right parents.
Right time-frame for arrival with residency in QLD of 48 +/- years.
Right age

Being listed as unmarried may not necessarily mean he was a loner.
He may have had a relationship without formality of marriage.

This identity certainly ticks most boxes for your person of interest ;D

True, but interesting the hospital listed as the informant.. unless he was from out of town, say.

Sometimes, Geoff, the registration is done by the hospital, from information given on admission or from information given by a relative/friend; sometimes the official informant can be a funeral director.  In both of these cases unfortunately you don't know who actually gave the information.

I wonder if this is the same man already mentioned above in electoral rolls, but, as I said, the address is not in Brisbane at all.

Thanks, Judith I hadn't realised that re the informant.

There is a George Thomas Goodwin 1903, 1905 and 1908 at Mudgeeraba as a labourer. Not easy to pin down as a labourer after that.

The QLD Electoral Roll.

1903
GOODWIN, George Thomas
Mudgeeraba, (Southport)
Lab

1908
GOODWIN, George Thomas
Southport
Lab.

1909
Mudgeeraba (Southport)
Clerk

1912
Mudgeeraba
Clerk

This I think is the same man.  With advancing years, labouring was not possible and he took a desk job.

Admitted to hospital in Brisbane and dies there.

What do others think?

Yeah, that would make sense, address looks good and there doesn't appear to be a better offering in the E/R's.

Hi,

I agree,

On the Qld State Electoral Roll (not the Commonwealth Roll) for 1903 When he qualified by residence in April he stated that his age was 54.
