Just adding,
This looks like his headstone, Karrakatta Cemetery, died 2 Dec 1977, age 79.

I can't help with a death notice but you may find the following helpful.  His surname is recorded as both BROWNE and BROWN

Arthur John BROWNE was born 18 Mar 1898, Singleton NSW son of Joseph E BROWNE and Annie M UNKNOWN.  Ref 16064/1898

He married Hazel GORNAN in 1921 NSW Ref 9935/1921 and died in Perth WA on 2 Dec 1977.

Burial record with his surname as BROWN.

His headstone/plaque is not listed on find-a-grave.  There is a programme of renewal at Karrakatta and according to this map it appears the area has been 'renewed'.  You can find the location of his burial on the burial record I linked above.

Thanks Cando.
I am researching the names on a WW1 Honour Roll for the NSW Railways. Arthur enlisted under the surname BROWN #7452

Found Arthur John BROWNE born 18 March 1898 in Singleton. His mother, Annie Maria nee ROCHE married Joseph BROWN #7247/1898 (4 Dec) in Sydney. They also had a child, Doris in 1895.

Annie Maria died 6 July 1902 NSW BDM #10779 and Joseph married in 1912 to Grace Glasscock #94

Thanks for marriage info for Arthur - this ties in with death notices.

Thanks Gerry your suggestion, have sent a request to the WA State Library.

Cando, not sure if this is the Arthur John BROWNE I am looking for who married Hazel GORNALL (not Gornan) as shown NSW BDM #9935/1921.

Have found a death notice for his father, Joseph BROWN, who died in 1946. It lists his (2nd) wife, Arthur's older and younger sisters (both married) and a J. Brown. Unfortunately budget restraints for research of the WW1 HR precludes me from purchasing marriage certificate.

So hears hoping that the WA SL will be able to assist in finding a death notice for Arthur.

Response from WA SL. re Arthur John Browne/e of a death and/or funeral notice.

A death notice was placed in the West Australian newspaper 3 Dec 1977 for a John BROWNE (age 79) who died on 2nd December 1977 therefore I believe this to be the same person.
He was survived by a daughter, son-in-law, grand and great grandchildren (as all could still be living, have withheld their names). No mention of a wife/partner.

Found a family tree on Ancestry which shows that the Browne/Gornall marriage in 1921 produced a son so further investigation needed.

Thanks all for your assistance
Bonnie
