Yes, wise words from Cando.

I mention ...  a bdm registrar in that remote, sparse, and huge bdm  area  known as Wentworth was a part-time position.  Sometimes/often these P/time tasks were taken up by those employed in the Courts or by the Police Magistrates.  There was no follow up from the Reg Gen's office if quarterly returns failed to arrive in Sydney.  Birth registrations were driven by someone going into 'town' and verbally informing the part-timer who may be out of town on police work  .... so in era before 24/7 instant communications and with the Darling River in flood or in drought ... paperwork for Sydney was not a high priority.
