Charles Gibson

Searching for my g grandfather, Charles Gibson. He appears on the 1871 census living at White le-head, Durham with his wife Ann and two sons Thomas and John, my grandfather, Charles had not yet been born. The census shows him being born in Barlow. His marriage entry shows his marriage to Ann Foggon on 4th September 1866 in St Marys church in the parish of Gateshead. His father's name is Thomas, who was a miner. Charles moved to NSW, Australia and died at New Lambton on 18th July 1904. As much as I have tried, I cannot find his birth or baptismal details, nor can I find any information on his father, Thomas. I have been in touch with Ann Foggon's family, but they have not tried to trace the Gibson name at all.
 I am just looking for clues if anyone can help.
