Two weddings?
« on: Wednesday 06 June 18 22:12 BST (UK) »
Margaret Jackson m William Askey in January 1827. But beyond that all is murky ---

FindMyPast (un)helpfully gives the following for the wedding:

28 Jan 1827 at Arksey
and
29 Jan 1827 at Campsall!

It seems too coincidental that two couples with identical names should marry a day apart - or did they? Or is there another explanation?

is anyone able to look at the relevant PRs to see if there are any signatures, witness names etc?

Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)

Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)

Marriage took place 29th January 1827 at Campsall, in county of York
William of Arksey
Margaret of Campsall
Both signed
By banns with consent of all parties
Witnesses Charlotte Askey & George Pearson
Both signed, he witnessed two other weddings over the two pages

Also banns give Margaret as of Skellow

Images of both on FindMyPast

England marriages transcription has William as Aikey and lists mother’s name as Charlotte Aikey

The reason that you have found two dates is that the transcripts that FindMyPast have are extracted from familysearch the first is banns but that has not been made obvious, the second is the marriage.

As Comberton mentioned the images are also available on F M P
