Help please Southend-on-Sea Watsons
« on: Thursday 07 June 18 14:17 BST (UK) »
Hi as a newbie to Rootschat I am seeking help with some elusive ancestors please?
I have evidence of my great grandmother Frances Elizabeth Talbot b 1863. She was married in 1883 to Augustus Henry Bradbury in Soho and had two children who died in Paddington workhouse where my grandfather William Bradbury was born in May 1888. I know from my late father that William was taken to Southend by his mother when he was about 7 or 8 years old.
He is listed on the 1901 census as an errand boy although his name is showing as William Watson living with Elizabeth & George Watson - his mother and partner.  George was a witness to William's first marriage.
1911 census shows Elizabeth & George Watson living with two further children at 56 Farringdon Place (this is the address that William’s 1st wife was living at the time of their marriage)
The children are Frances b 1901 Fulham and Frank b 1904 Southend.  It is these children I am looking for - I've hit the proverbial brick wall for some years now.  I have tried all variations of names and surnames to no avail - Bradbury, Talbot and Watson.  I did find a death and ordered the cert for a Frank Watson in 1914 but the details didn't match.
Elizabeth died in 1929 using her primary married name of Bradbury so assume there was no marriage with George.  She had been living with her sister Louisa and her husband in Hammersmith, George Watson having died in Southend in 1915.
My tree is public on Ancestry.
I would be forever grateful for any help on finding these people or a pointer in the right direction please?

Thanks for your replies ..... I'm sure that is not the Frances I'm looking for as she appears on the 1911 census in London 🙄 I think it's possible that both children had completely different birth names or were possibly a relative's children? Although it does say on the census that they had two living children ....... the mother doesnt mention her previous children. Frustrating is not the word 😣

On the 1911 they are only required to show the number of children 'born alive to the present marriage' so she should not be declaring previous children
