Who was her mother?

Joyce Muriel GIBSON's birth was registered 1927 in Leicester and she was born Jul 1927.

Joyce and Francis William ALDERTON married in 1948 Leicester.  Francis died in 2003 and Joyce in  1989.

Free BDM lists Joyce's mother as GIBSON.  In the 1939 register Joyce is living with Florence Annie GIBSON and three of Florence's adult children George E, and her two unmarried daughters Dorothy & Ada.  Joyce is also living with the family. 

Who was Joyce's mother?

I cannot locate a baptism for Joyce which would help to identify her mother.  In 1911 Florence was living at Birstall.  In 1939 at Barrow-upon-Soar.

Any ideas?

Not sure how you’re going to find out without the birth certificate?   It’s unlikely that a baptism of this relatively recent date will be available online.  Both Dorothy and Ada are of an age to be her unmarried mother.

Is there a way to find  to access births especially as Joyce didn't marry till 1948/

In Australia births aren't available for 100 years??

You can order her birth certificate in the normal way from the GRO - there’s no 100-year restriction.

I had a look at the GRO but births were only available till 1917?? [I think it was 1917 but perhaps it was 1918?]

FreeBMD has BMDs up to 1983 (paysites have more recent BMDs)

George E was married according to the 1939 register but his wife was not living with the family. 

i located a possible marriage for George E to Florence Ma Handley but i don't seem to be able to find her.

When I look at Search the GRO Online Index and enter the details I have for a birth; the drop down menu only goes as far as 1917

ADDED Looking at FreeBDM gives only the mother's surname of GIBSON
