Thomas Ellis Smith and family
« on: Saturday 09 June 18 22:49 BST (UK) »
Thomas Ellis Smith of Pontaberbargoed, in his last will and testament made 27 May 1852 he mentions wife Jane Ellis and four daughters Mary the wife of William Thomas; Margaret the wife of Edmund Rees; Joan wife of Edward Jenkins and Ruth wife of David Decumus Jones.
Can someone please help locate details of this family in 1851 and 1841.

Kind Regards, Roy

from the parish records

Charles Ellis married Matilda Thomas in the first month of civil registration 22 July 1837 in Bedwellty parish church, noted as blacksmith of Pontaberbargoed, father Thomas, smith.
He was buried 21 Nov 1841, age recorded as 251/2

baptisms to Thomas & Jane
David bp 28 Feb 1814
Charles bp 10 May 1816 residence Bedwellty
Jane Ellis bp 31 Dec 1818, buried 1 May 1819
Mary Ellis bp 10 May 1823 date of birth noted as 16 Feb 1822 residence Pontaberbargoed
Margaret bp 30 Aug 1824 residence Pontaberbargoed
Joan bp 30 May 1827 residence Pontaberbargoed
Ruth bp 9 Jan 1831 residence Pontaberbargoed

marriages in Bedwellty
Margaret married 7 Feb 1847
Ruth married 24 Sep 1849, witnesses Thomas & Joan Ellis
Joan married 24 Nov 1851 residence noted as Cwmsyfiwch

I spotted a burial in Bedwellty for Charles Elis 2 Nov 1815 aged 63 and checked for a will. No will, but admin naming Thomas, his son.

From FreeReg, likely baptism for Charles in Bedwellty 8 Feb 1753 son of Philip Ellis, smith.

Charles Elis married Joan David 30 may 1783 in Bedwellty.
