Queensland BDM's

Found this interesting...dated 6 Jun 2018

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01m6g/

From today, researchers and historians are able to apply for historical source images, which are the notes or any other material provided by the informant. Previously they were only able to access the official record of the birth, death or marriage.

“While not every certificate has accompanying notes or documents, there is the potential to access so much more information quickly, which may provide far greater insights into a family’s history.

Another good feature is that you get the actual date of the event instead of just the year. Saves having to drill down.

What am I missing?

Did a birth search for Emma Jeffs and Jeffs Emma - Found 17855 results in the Queensland historical record, searching just Jeffs gave 87 results.
Death search same name - Found 21894 results in the Queensland historical records, using just Jeffs gave 157 results.
Trying with a father or mother name made no difference.

I searched Jeffs because many of them in QLD are my lot.

Mick
Jeffs - Northamptonshire to Leicestershire to Queensland, Australia
Lewis - Wales to Gloucestershire to NSW & Queensland, Australia
Iddols & Baylis - Gloucestershire
Mary Jones, daughter of James Jones and Eliza - born abt 1864 Staffordshire, died 1948 Queensland, Australia
Dorans - Ireland to Scotland to Queensland, Australia
Ralph - Ireland to Scotland to Queensland, Australia
Jillett - Robert, Transported Convict from Surrey
Christison - Edinburgh,Scotland
Cameron - Edinburgh, Scotland

It would be great if it offered at least the same products as the old site.

I checked the names for some I'm interested in getting (when funds permit), and this new site only has the historical certificate available for them. I checked on the old site and it offers both the historical certificate and historical image. For me, the images are much more useful. I even checked one where I had previously ordered an image, and only the certificate was available on the new site.

Hopefully, this is just a bug that they will fix. A service which costs more and takes longer (posted) for a less useful product is not really a step forward.

Is this the website you are searching?

Thanks Jennaya, I've had a quick read on the search tips, not sure that helps.

sparrett, tis the new site, I missed that the previous site is still available, not that it matters as I'm checking out search options on the new one.

Mick, you got the disparity because in your first search it gave you Emma as well as Jeffs, and there would be a lot more Emma xxxx than xxx Jeffs people  :)  :)

The old 'less is sometimes more' principle.
