Wonder what changes would appear if one put the new Ancestry estimates through FTDNA/MyHeritage and Gedmatch again ???

Mine haven't changed, but FTDNA are wildly different from Ancestry:

Ancestry
Great Britain 55%
Scandinavia  20%
Scotland  13%
Low Confidence
  Iberian 5%
  West Europe 4%
  Finland 3%

While FTDNA have
British 93%
South East Europe 2% (Map shows Balkans)
Traces from Finland and Asia Minor

Surprised by the 20% Scandinavian in Ancestry, must be because my mother's from the North East / Scotland, but it is very different to the FTDNA, which looks much more like the paper trail!

My AncestryDNA results haven't changed either, but they do say 'Great Britain' rather than 'England/Wales', so maybe an update is imminent!

At the moment my ethnicity estimates are:
61% European West (33%-84%)
25% Ireland/Scotland/Wales (10%-38%)
10% Great Britain (0%-29%)
4% Scandanavia (0%-13%)

As the majority of my ancestors are from England (with a few from Ireland) an update might make mine more in line with the paper tree!

My Grandad's (Entirely English by paper records - although some family did live in Wales, but seem to originate from England)
48% Europe West (18%-77%)
25% Great Britain (0%-56%)
23% Ireland/Scotland/Wales (6%-38%)
2% Scandanavia (0%-8%)
<1% Iberian Peninsula (0%-3%)
<1% Asia Central (0%-1%)

I look forward to see how this updates!  ;D

Kimbrey are you saying that AncestryDNA Company has altered its processing and filtering of your 700,000 marker measurements has been recently changed (which would give different data for uploading to other sites)?
The general belief is that the Company has now larger population samples to obtain improved definition of the world's so-called "ethnic groupings". This company is now advertising they have twice as many world ethnic groups (over 300) than any other consumer DNA testing company.

Of course, the company may have made changes to both - can anyone comment please?

Yes, I was just wondering if the changes made to their method of "estimating" would have any effect were one to download the newer version to other sites which one has already downloaded to-if they have just adjusted the estimates to the increased database size probably not !

I'm not sure that it works like that. Your DNA doesn't change, so other sites would still get the same data . It's just that their DNA source database, which is used to calculate your ethnicity, has expanded and thus can produce a more accurate estimate.

As has been said on many other threads, ethnicity estimates are very approximate; often used to encourage people to buy the kit. Often at the pinch of salt level. It's best to use your paper trail.
