Tangney, Ginnitty, Crean
« on: Monday 11 June 18 15:59 BST (UK) »
Just starting my Search. Tangney's, from Kerry, Ireland. Told a Fr. Connection with 4-6 brothers sailors coming to Kerry and settling there. Not sure if a tale or true. GGRandfather Patrick, wife Julia Crean died in childbirth or shortly there after with Grandfather John F. Tangney. Settled in Brooklyn NY. Patrick remarried maybe Ellen Joyce or Bridget Gallagher.

Welcome from me too :)

Was John F the John Francis Tangney born 12 June 1891 in New York City who was in Brooklyn in 1942 (WWII Draft Registration Card)?  If so his next of kin was Mary E Tangney.

This suggests a birthdate of 1867 for Julia, so this group arriving in New York may be relevant:

SS Wyoming, sailed from Liverpool via Queenstown (Cobh), arr New York 30 May 1882

Mary Crean 58, from Ireland (dittoed as "spinster" from the entry above - may or may not be reliable)
Nicolas Crean 11, from Ireland
Julia Crean 15, from Ireland <<<
