Cannon MG 8150 Printer
« on: Tuesday 12 June 18 12:10 BST (UK) »
when I switched on the cannon printer  today there's an error message that the interior door is open, checked everything & all ok but can't get rid of the error message & the printer is  unusable,a search on Google brings up the suggestion to take out the ink cartridges but when I  open it up the carriage does not move to the centre to give access to the cartridges, I'm stumped, does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong, I bought a new desktop PC & was just installing everything,  PC recognised both my printers ( Wi-Fi) but I can't see any reason  that would make any difference.

Had the same problem on my previous Canon. Inside there are micro switches which are made when the door/tray is open as yours isn't indicates there's possibly a fault with one of the switches.

Possibly paper remnant somewhere.  Unplug, remove paper, open all doors, flaps, hatches & covers,  Blow and clean the whole thing and look for any fragments of paper, dust, etc. Reassemble.

If still happens, then likely a hardware fault with a sensor, and sadly, probably beyond economic repair.

Thank you for the suggestions & the link to the manual that I have downloaded, I opened up everything & with a torch checked all was spotlessly clean & no dirt or paper caught anywhere, and it is now working properly no more error message & the ink carriage is moving so I can access the cartridges.
