John E Hardwick
« on: Tuesday 12 June 18 22:33 BST (UK) »
Curious if anyone could help me out here. I am researching my family tree. I have made it back ten generations with the Hardwick line. John E Hardwick looks to be born maybe in 1719, a blacksmith and bonded servant maybe came over to the colonies around 1736. I have found a few things saying he was from Derbyshire. Lived in Virginia. Married twice to Elizabeth Younger and later to maybe Drucella Hamlett. Looks like John died in 1801 in Halifax Virginia. Trying to find out his correct birth year, birthplace, and parents. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to rootschat, Neal.

Could you give us the names of any children?

Where did you get the Derbyshire information from?

Elizabeth Younger looks to be the first wife maybe married in 1741-1750. The children include Mildred, Thomas, Younger, and Elizabeth from the first marriage. Second marriage Nancy, Julia, John, Frankey, Sally, Molly Lucy, Betty, and Jennie. John would be the one that I’m directly related to.

I have read some stuff about maybe born in 1719 and baptized in 1729 but can’t find much proof.

Someone did suggest Joseph as the father and others say William.

Have you seen the original copy of the marriage of John to Drucella as these two are your direct line.  I wondered if it gave any more information than I found on the transcript.

Do the burials of John & Drucella give any idea of their ages when they died.

Your post seems to imply that the John that married Drucella may not be the same John who married Elizabeth or have I misunderstood you.  :-\

From what I can gather Elizabeth was the first wife and Drucella was second. I couldn’t use the link you left because I am not a member of that site. Thank you for your help though. Everything I’ve seen lists Johns death as 1801 in Halifax, Virginia but I never see an age listed.
