I suggest the William J Ricketts you have found in Mangotsfield in 1939, married to Gertrude, may be related to his Ricketts neighbours on the same page:

James Levi Ricketts, birth registration Dec qtr 1883 Keynsham.

In which case William’s birthdate may be a bit out:

William James Ricketts, mmn Bryant, birth registration Mar qtr 1882 Keynsham.

thank you for your reply's

mystery solved

william john ricketts  1890-1917 is my relation
parents  john ricketts and ada emily watts

william james rickets 1882-1947 maried to gertrude gifford
is not parents   james ricketts and mary hannah bryant

it had worried me if  william john rickets died 1917 then how could he be on the 1939 listing and have a child 1926

thank you again
