RCAF Service Record - Gunnstein Vincent Eastman
« on: Wednesday 13 June 18 16:41 BST (UK) »
Hi, I’m looking for RCAF service records for Gunnstein Vincent Eastman (born 1923 in Manitoba, died 2013 Toronto) from 1941 to 1947 when he served in the RCAF in Britain. He seems to have stayed on in Britain after the war and served as a flight instructor at the Little Rissington air base. There he met my wife’s grandmother, Evelyn Clayton Davidson (probably in 1946) who gave birth to his child (my wife’s mother) in early 1947. Unfortunately, he was sent home to Canada in 1946 and never came back. He probably didn’t even know of the child.
I found some service lists which show him with the rank F/O (service number 23448). Judging from newspaper articles, he seems to have come home after the war in 1945. But he must have returned to Britain for another 1-2 years, to serve as flight instructor.
I am basically looking for information which would proof that he was at Little Rissington air base during 1946. I don’t want to bark at the wrong tree. Cheers

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

Many thanks for the advice. I will then try to go through the official channels. Hopefully, I’ll get somewhere.
