Thanks for those hallmark. I did already have those references which came from a book on the clergy of clogher diocese. Did you get them from the same book? Or do they appear exactly the same in the book from OP? I was hoping the history of county might have more clues for me.
Others rootschatters can correct me if wrong, but this might not have been rev John Knox original post. I would expect to see him as a curate somewhere before 1670. Furthermore, I would have assumed he'd  attended Trinity college Dublin, but cannot see him there. Also looked at Glasgow, Oxford, and Cambridge.
I'd love to find where he went to university and some information on his origins/ parents!
 I do have snippets or information regarding his involvement in the siege of Derry, but no clues to his past before clogher.
Any help gratefully received. Katharine.

Hallmark, if they were from the county history, I assume they were the only references?
