John Death Brent Ely/Eleigh
« on: Friday 15 June 18 01:25 BST (UK) »
Would SKS please check Boyd's Index for the marriage of a John Death at Brent Ely, or possibly Gt. Henny, Essex, around 1675 - 1685 ?

Also, I would be very interested in other marriages of John DEATH at Brent Eleigh in 1654, 1656 and 1666.

Any information given in those marriage records such as spouses, parishes, parents, witnesses etc would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance
francoso

Thanks Solidrock. Yes, Brent Eleigh is in Suffolk and Gt Henny is in Essex. It is the earlier marriages of John Death that I would like to establish to be able to extend my Tree.
Thanks and regards

Hello francoso

The Suffolk Record Office's images of Brent Eleigh's 17th-century marriages looked practically illegible to me but there is a relatively modern transcript of the couples' names. However, the only DEATH bridegrooms I found between 1654 and 1685 were William (m. Mary PARMINTER?) and Ambrose (m. Frances KING?), apparently both marrying on the same day, 23 Aug. 1655.

So perhaps you will be interested in weddings elsewhere in Suffolk from Boyd's index for the years you specified:

1654 John DEATH m. Eln [Ellen?] HARPER at Sudbury, St Peter

1656 John DEATH m. Sara LACY at Bury St Edmunds, St Mary

1666 John DEATH m. Anne TAILOR at Monks Eleigh

1679 John DEATH m. Elz SKOT at Bury St Edmunds, St James

A printed transcript of the marriages registered at St James's church in Bury St Edmunds shows that John DEATH of Thorpe Moriena [presumably Thorpe Morieux] married Elizabeth SCOT of Cockfeild [Cockfield] on 22 Sept. 1679.

Monks Eleigh borders Brent Eleigh.

1654 John DEATH m. Eln [Ellen?] HARPER at Sudbury, St Peter

Apologies to the OP for effectively hijacking their thread, but thank you gobbitt for listing that marriage.  Looks like one of my ancestors may have remarried the year after her husband was buried in Little Waldingfield.  Hadn't picked that one up previously but we've not found a burial for her so I wonder if that may be her remarrying.  Shall have to take a look. ;D
