Koster Research - possibly from Lower Saxony, Germany

Hi,

I don't have much information but I have been asked to help a friend look into her son-in-laws German ancestry. All they know is an Alwine M P Koster married an English Army Officer in 1948 at Buckeburg Gemany and her father is listed as Wilhelm Koster who may have been a homeopath. She has passed away and so has her husband. They think the family is from Lower Saxony possibly Paderborn or Hamlin. I know we cant order her birth certificate as I think its still within the 110 year limit. Any ideas of where if anywhere I can search, are baptism records available for Paderborn or the Hamlin area??

is Ludenscheld close to Buckeburg ?

added - sorry - 120 miles from Ludenscheid to Buckeburg on MapQuest - so not your Alwine ...

Thanks Dave - had to download the German map on MapQuest ...120 miles apart so the wrong Alwine Koster ...worth a look though ...at least that marriage can be ruled out ...lol...cheers

Morning, thank you for your replies (and the website links Dave). No this Alwine married a James Wedge, they had one child born in Germany and then their second child in the UK. We've just been able to find her death cert amongst the Scottish records which is fab as we now know her mother's maiden name was Hesse and her father was Friedrich Wilhelm Koster and an approx birth date of 1927 for Alwine. Rinteln is 10 Km away from Bückeburg.
Maybe Friedrich´s second name was William which he adopted? ot they are relatives

Just got very excited as I put Alwine Koster in Ancestry with Rinteln and its come up with Madchen Koster Died 1936 Rinteln, parents Freidrich and Alwine Koster nee Hesse!!
