Richard Farrer b. 1834-36
« on: Friday 15 June 18 21:45 BST (UK) »
A Richard Farrer and Sarah Lomax married on 8 December 1857 at Parish Church, St Mary, Bury, Lancashire.  She was a local lady.  Can anybody tell me if they have access to the marriage certificate and who does Richard state  his father is?

Annette,

So many thanks. This substantiates his occupation as County Court Bailiff in the 1861 census, where he states he was born in Milnthorpe, Westmorland.   Quite a young man with such responsibility!  Having his father's name will help trying to find his birth registration.   :)

Hello Annette, Rosie and Trish

All so wonderful to have.  Richard's widow has "Parker" as his mother's name, and I was having trouble with that.  Not to mention the different spellings etc.  Having her maiden name sorted for me is fantastic.  Your help has been very much appreciated.  Now I can look forward to following the rest of the family.  Thanks again.

Gail

Thanks Trish. It has all been quite emotional, actually, to get some answers after all these years.    Would like to know whether I can view the marriage of Richard Farrer and Sarah Lomax on 8 Dec. 1857 on line, or do I have to order a certificate from GRO?  I would like to see signatures and compare with other documents I have.
