Hello Garsonite,
Thanks, I am very interested in your research thoughts !
1] According to the Northampton Ship passenger list, which arrived in Table Bay, Cape Town on 26th March 1820, on route to William's final destination of Algoa Bay, Port Elizabeth ...
- as per this resource
www.cdbooks-r-us.com/freebies/bsa.pdf (pages 133-136)
- William Thackwray's age is listed as 40yrs
- and wife Dorothy Pownall's age is listed as 43yrs
- so on his marriage in 1802, William would have been about 22yrs
- therefore William's birth year is approx 1779-1780 ?
- thus a baptism date of 1783 is possible for William ?
- however, it appears Dorothy was older than the 43yrs listed in 1820 as her baptism at Church Hulme, Salford was in Dec 1773, making her 47yrs old ... but I imagine she being very image and self-conscious of being 7yrs older than her husband ... is the reason for the 4yr discrepancy ?
2] The mis-spelling of Thackwray-Thackory doesn't worry me as I have seen so many spelling variations already through our research ... BUT why did you feel Saddleworth, Yorkshire was a coincidence ?
3] I am battling to see Source: LDS Film 1502433 as familysearch.org shows Film # 004421040 with 614 images ... SO not certain where or what to look at ... can you help out here ?
4] Also when I try go to the Register: Baptisms 1793 - 1840, Entry 531
Source: LDS Film 560900 familysearch.org takes me to Film # 004407886 with only 173 images ... so I can't see Dorothy Thackeray's actual baptism image ?
5] I have tried to document my research finding on a closed family research Facebook group :

Thanks
