George Alfred Broomfield - Cook at London Hotel Bournemouth England 1928

Hi

I am currently researching my grandfather who was adopted around 10 months after he was born, but he never told us much about his family when he was alive. We are on a quest to find his family and using Ancestry DNA have found out he has a sister (though not sure if she has the same father yet)

We have recently got hold of his birth certificate and found out his father was called George Alfred Broomfield and was a Cook at the London Hotel in Bournemouth in 1928.

My grandfather's mother was named Sybil Barbara Ambrose born 1899.

We cannot see that they were married and are currently trying to find out more information about George.

I was wondering if anyone knew a way to find out more details about him, considering we know he was a Cook in 1928 at the 'London Hotel' in Bournemouth?

Also, we can find 2 births around Hampshire/Dorset for a George Alfred Broomfield, one in 1899 in Chard and the other in 1909 in the New Forest.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I think the sister approach is the way to go as it's all there is.
You can also try & rule out one or both of the George's by looking for marriages or deaths pre 1928 when I assume your Grandfather was born.

update:
George A born 1909 was a labourer in a waterworks in 1939 so probably not him.
George A born 1899 died in Hampshire in 1938.

My grandfather's mother was named Sybil Barbara Ambrose born 1899.

 I cannot find a birth registration , either using Ambrose or Sybil  Barbara and leaving the surname blank.  I can`t find her in 1901 with that birthdate. Where was she born and how  have you got these details.

The George A Broomfield born 1899 died 1938 in Andover and the one born 1909 probably died 1950 in Southampton.  No probate entry found for either

The fact he was working in Bournemouth in 1928 does not necessarily mean he was born there - he could have born in any county.

Possible Hampshire marriages - 1932 to Edith E Chant (this is the 1909 George)   1938 Ada G Perry (different George - born 1913)

Sybil Barbara Ambrose born 1899.

Can't see any birth for that name in 1899.  Was Ambrose her married name?

On the 1928 birth cert - does it show Sybil as Broomfield nee Ambrose or just as Ambrose?
