What became of Martha Goddard?

Hello,

Martha Corby married John Goddard in 1811 in Edmonton. My ancestor William was born in Ponders End in 1812. The couple appear together in 1841. John died and was buried in Enfield in 1850. I've seen two censuses with a Martha Goddard, one she is born 1795, Enfield (1851) and the other 1797, Enfield (1861). I don't know if this is her. I always inclined towards the 1790 christening for Martha Corby in Enfield. I note there is one death in
the Edmonton District in 1862 that lists a Martha Goddard as 71 (born ca. 1791 - perfect for a 1790 baptism, it was late that year too). I'm still not sure if it's her or not. Can I have opinions on this from anyone? I'm just not sure.

The 1850 Enfield burial at St Andrews shows John's birth year as 1780

If you look at the birth years you give for Martha and the 1812 birth of son William she was either 15 or 17 when she gave birth - assuming you have the right Martha in census records.

A Martha Goddard was buried 1862 at St Andrews but she was born 1769

Yes, there are two who died in 1862 according to GRO. I just don't know if the 1790 Martha is the same in 1851 and 1861.

Looking at the 1841 entry - their eldest child is 15 and youngest 13 so birth years 1825-1828 or thereabouts.  That's a big gap between the 1812 birth of William

FS shows Sarah b 1814 then Eliza 1826 James 1827 and John 1829

Maybe that's not the John and Martha Goddard then. William was born in June 1812, and christened at an Independent Church in Ponders End before being christened at St. Andrew's in Enfield to John and Martha Goddard.

Can't see that entry - only one found in 1851 was born 1797 Enfield and had a son John aged 17 and daughter Cecelia 15 which does not tie in with the 1841 entry

Sorry, it may have been a 1795 birth in 1861 then. Anyway, my William Goddard said he was born around 1815 in Enfield, and his father is given as John on his wedding certificate. That's what led me to the 1812 christenings.

Strangely - there is an 1861 entry for a Martha Goddard b Ponders End 1770

The 1861 Martha Goddard was born 1795 and was living with son John born 1833.  John's birth year fits the 1851 entry which had a daughter Cecelia so I have doubts this is the right Martha
