Can someone help identify this army uniform date 1945
« on: Monday 18 June 18 02:55 BST (UK) »
I have a picture of my great grandfather we don’t know much about him only that he might of been a Jew. So this is a picture from 1945 in Poland and he is the one standing on the left. I have no idea if he was in the army or anything really about why he is wearing an army uniform. I notice it has a little sign on his sleeve but have no idea what it could be. Help!

It may be worth posting some details you know for people to help try & identify your g/fathers' origins/army connections etc?

When/where was he born?
When/where/whom did he marry?
What was his occ. on his marriage/childrens BCs?
Where was he living during those events?
Have you found him in 1939 & if so, where?

Welcome to rootschat Duckingquack.

.... and he is the one standing on the left. ...

... You mean he is the one on the right?  ;)
Yes, you would presume that he was in the army if he is wearing a uniform.  ;)

You obviously know the date of the photo. Do you know the location too?

Can you give us a close up of the insignia on the other chaps left pocket? (in case it helps).

Added: A good scan of the photo might reveal more details and make the patch clearer.
Do you know which way is "up"? I wonder which way the badge is supposed to be?

Not sure about his first name but his last name was Fima. The photo was taken in 1945. We don’t know much about him really apparently his documents got burnt for no apparent reason by his wife after WW2
