Lapham of Kilmington
« on: Monday 18 June 18 17:34 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I note that there are two burials for a Hannah Lapham in Kilmington in the early 19th century. She was the husband of Luke, so is there any indication in either burial of her being his husband? Luke died in either 1852 or 1859, so I'm also looking for a burial for him. He was in Longbridge Deverill in 1851.

I'd appreciate any help!

If you look on Free Reg website there are the following entries;

19 6 1859 - burial of a Luke Lapham at St Mary the Virgin, Kilmington (you could find his age at death by looking on the GRO death indexes (free)

29. 1 1823  burial of Hannah Lapham aged 6 -- same church.

11. 8 1816  burial of Hannah Lapham aged 77 -- same church.

so neither of these 2 particular 'Hannah's' could be the wife of Luke, if these were the ones you meant (you haven't actually given dates for the Hannahs). They could of course be related to him.

So Luke must have died in 1852, probably in Hill Deverill, where he was the year before. Hannah isn't with him in Hill Deverill in 1841 so presumably she died before then.

The Luke who died in 1852 was 85 years old. He died in the Registration District of Warminster.

You can now check ages at death not shown on the civil reg index (ie before 1866) --- on the GRO website.
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

If you are not already registered with the site - you will need to do so.

An Hannah Lapham aged 78 died in 1847 in Warminster Reg District. Might that be her?

I've seen the 1847 death and it would make sense but the pair aren't together on the 1841 Census. This could be for any number of reasons though.
