James Drewett Compton
« on: Tuesday 19 June 18 23:18 BST (UK) »
Hoping someone can help me with James Drewett Compton bap 22  Aug 1756 Rushall , Upavon Wiltshire. His father is recorded as Matthew Compton but the only Matthew Compton I have found was  baptised in 1694 in Ogbourne St Andrew's Wiltshire. Would it be likely as he would have been 62 when James was born. Also if it is the correct Matthew would anybody have a marriage likely for him as I dont have any info on who James' mother is.

Hello
Mathew Compton senior buried 12.5.1770 at Upavon

Mathew  Compton and Mary Brown were married 15.5.1720 at Upavon both of this parish
Mary d of Mathew 19.12.1720 -12.2.1720
James 8.3.1720/21 s of Mathew
Adam 19.1 1724 s of Mathew and Mary
Mary 21.11.1725
John s of Mathew 17.9.1727
James s of Mathew bapt 8.3.1729
Hester 21.1.1731
John 6.7.1735
Joseph 12.2.1738
Lucy 19.5.1746  (I'm guessing the daughter of Mathew and Lucy)

I think this is Mathew 's Mom and Dad but Mathew's baptism is missing. But if there is a Mathew Senior there must be a Mathew junior.

There is an Admin for Mathew Compton of Wedhampton to  widow Lucy mentioning William Drewett of Beckhampton and James Compton yeoman of Wedhampton  £160 11.6.1773
Burial 10.5.1773 at Urchfont

Thanks for the replies :)  I think I have found a baptism for Matthew - 12 Oct 1694 Ogbourne, Wiltshire, Father Matthew and Mother Esther so I think the Matthew Senior burial may be for the father of the first Matthew
