Can anyone please help.
« on: Wednesday 20 June 18 02:34 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone.
I'm in need of some help.  There's a few gaps  I don't know. And I can't find out.
WhatI'm trying to do is find.  My husbands  great gran. And also  when his gran got married and who her husband was.
1st I will start with my husbands mum. She was born irene miriam ditchfield. Born 29th of September 1920.
Her mother's name was Elizabeth  Riste.  Elizabeth  married  Mr ditchfield.  I don't know   his 1st name. Or when they got married. Or when he passed away.

I'm also trying to find out who Elizabeth Riste  mum was.  I don't think she had any other children.  Elizabeth. Had 2 children.  Samuel ditchfield. And irene miriam ditchfield.
Irene  married  Samuel lucas.February 1940. They had a large family.  My husband  is one of them.
All I know  is that my husbands  parents  came from Manchester.  My husbands  mother's  father  was  African.

The last address I know of Elizabeth ditchfield  was 6.Augustus close moss side Manchester.  She was a widow then.
She passed away 1979.

I'm really stuck on Elizabeths  parents. And her dob extra.
If anyone can help me. With any of these. I would really appreciate it.  I'm trying to do my husbands  family background.

Thank you again everyone. I really do need help.

Thank you again.

Dorothy

Hello Dorothy,

As I said on your other thread, there is a marriage between Elizabeth Riste and Samuel Ditchfield in 1916. (Chorlton registration district - you can find it on FreeBMD.)

Elizabeth Riste was born in Chorlton district in 1890, and the GRO online index gives her mother's maiden name as Lowe.  A Mary Elizabeth Lowe married Henry Riste in Chorlton in 1891 - this was after Elizabeth's birth, but I can't see another likely marriage at the moment.

It looks as though Henry died in Lancaster in 1901, and Mary Elizabeth then married Arthur George Williams in Chorlton in 1906.

Elizabeth's death in 1979 gives her date of birth as 10th June 1890

In the 1939 register her year of birth is 1892 - but date is the same

She's living with her widowed mother - not sure if we are allowed to post them on here

Elizabeth Riste in 1911 census (recorded as Elizabeth Riste Williams, stepfather Arthur George Williams born West Indies):

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWBR-XTJ

Confirms Ramblers findings.

Census shows Mary Elizabeth as being born c1873. Are you able to look at the 1939 register to see her actual birth date?

Possible baptism for Elizabeth:

England, Manchester, Parish Registers
Name    Elizabeth Lowe
Event Type    Christening
Event Date    04 Feb 1891
Event Place    St Michael, Hulme, Lancashire, England
Mother's Name    Mary Elizabeth Lowe

Hi.
Thank you for your help.
I can't  look up 1939 for actual birth.
I've tried everything. But I get completely stuck.

Thank you for your help with everything.
I really do appreciate everyone's help.
Thank you again
