Cause of Death
« on: Wednesday 20 June 18 10:19 BST (UK) »
I am having a lot of trouble trying to decipher a word on a death register. The death relates to a child who died of ? of Integument of neck after Scarlet Fever. It is that first word which I cannot decipher.
As usual, any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Yes, it's mortification; it means death of tissue, gangrene, etc.

Looks and sounds bad. Probably curable in 2018?

The integumentary system of the head and neck includes the skin and hair of the face, head and neck. The skin of the face is the part of the body which is most often exposed to sunlight, the elements, and environmental pollutants; thus, it is more prone to acne and to becoming dry or otherwise showing accumulated damage from these influences than the skin on the rest of the body.

As Malky says, there do seem to be four times the letter i in the first word.
Can ,t make out the first letters though.
I am intrigued, hope you get it sorted and it is possible one dot is just there for no reason.
Sorry if I have cast doubt.      Viktoria.

Think the first apparent 'i' is actually the indistinct cross of the 't'.

Definitely 'mortification'.
