Pickering Family
« on: Friday 22 June 18 05:35 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to trace Elizabeth Pickering born 29 Sept 1752 in Simonburn.

Her father was Thomas Pickering.  Her mother is unknown.

I would like to know more about this family.

I do know that Elizabeth married Thomas Heslop.

many thanks

Hello Fred,
I recently restored a 1677 Cocker's Arithmetic, which has inscriptions including the name of Thomas Pickering, 1720, Latterford.  Also, perhaps previously, inscribed by George Pickering.

The book is not for sale, but I would be happy to post photos of the book and inscriptions, if I could figure out how to do that.  (I found your 2018 post by searching for Latterford UK Pickering).

I think I had a Wadsworth ancestor who left Northumberland and arrived in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1632 and was one of the founders of Hartford Connecticut.
