"a little fellow barely nine years old, but who has considerable experience on the English Stage. Master  Willie Parke was selected for the character by the author himself, by whom he is described as an "infant phenomenon"

I've found one of the cast. J.W. Deverill aka John Wykeham DEVERILL - which seems to be his own name - Actor on board the Mongolia.
Arrives Sydney Sept 1906. But sadly he seems to be on his own.  At least, no one else on board by the time it arrives in Sydney gives Actor as their occupation.
When the Mongolia arrived first in Freemantle there were Alice and Bessie LIVESY Actors, but they don't appear to carry on to Sydney.

This says that Violet DENE and James LINDSAY arrived on The Orient this morning (Wed oct 6, 1906) and that Willy PARKE arrived last week.

So probably not their son ...

adding : Good thought to check their arrival  :)

It also crossed my mind that there was a possibility Edward b 1877 could well be the son of Edward Keogh.

Cas

In Duffy/Keogh Family Tree on A*y , parents of Edward Keogh b 1837 Dublin are given as William Michas Keogh and Mary Ffrench. Edward b1877 was baptised Edward Ffrench Kipping 1 Apr 1877 St Marks, Marylebone , parents Frederick and Patience Keturah Kipping of 30 Abbey Place.

In the Divorce Petition , filed 15 June 1877 , Frederick Kipping denies that he is the father of Edward Ffrench Kipping and accuses his wife of adultery with Edward Keogh. She refutes both of these claims and states that Frederick was a violent drunkard who committed adultery on numerous occasions , including whilst he was in America in 1876 and early 1877. It does seem highly likely that Edward Keogh was the father , especially as Edward junior appears to have been named Ffrench after Edward Keogh's mother !

Thank you for the clarification Chris. Sub has only run out this past week, so was unable to view details of divorce. Considering a sub deal with Anc, but reading all the probs people are having with searches have put it on hold. Prefer FindMyPast anyway.

There is this death which could be worth looking into -

James Lindsay
Death - 9 Aug 1928, Victoria, Australia
Cemetery - Melbourne
Transcription - James LINDSAY actor died 9 Jun 1928 In affectionate memory.

There are a number of Australian newspapers reporting on the above death.

He was well known in many parts of Australia and New Zealand. He appeared between 1904 - 1906 in Miss Nellie Stewart's company.
1906 - 1910 under the management of Messrs Meynell and Gunn.
Returned to England as a member of Miss Bannerman Co.

Unfortunately not found any reference to Violet Dene yet in these papers.
