Have now found records of James Chaplin s first marriage  & daughter Mary Birth

James Chaplin then married Rosa Newman in 1845
their 1st child was Emily b1845

Caroline Ann Bradford was a very accomplished lady and even if her husband isn't linked to Charlie Chaplin it's good to know that she was a pianist employed to play the music  for silent films

Her grandson sent a pic for me to add to her ancestry profile .And is intrigged to know what the scandal about his grandfather Alfred Thomas  was .He thought it was maybe to do with drunk driving which would explain why he went from driving cabs in the 1920.s to making vehicles in 1939

I think James  Chaplin b1793 came from Wallingfield
His daughter Phoebe  b great Waldingfield 1818

I don't know how far back we need to go to see which branch of Chaplins we belong to .

The family idea that Charles Chaplin senior b 1892 in a nearby Suffolk village   was cousin to james chaplins sons including Charles b.1897Chaplin  Newton Suffolk

I wonder how far away from his children he lived and died ....?
No evidence he took up with another woman so far

Could be that Caroline  not him was the one with shameful  rea son for separation  .her children were  young when the  couple ssepated and preferred their new dad
