William COWPER/COOPER marriage abt 1700 +/- maybe 10 years
« on: Sunday 24 June 18 13:44 BST (UK) »
John COWPER/COOPER was baptised 29 Nov 1714 at Desford son of William COOPER/COWPER.  John was buried 14 Dec 1714 at Desford.

I would appreciate some assistance to locate John's mother & William's wife please?

Unfortunately the above is slim pickings but its as much as I have been able to glean to date.

Westy

John Cooper,  Christening Date    29 Nov 1714, St Martin's Church Desford LEICESTER

potential sibling
Eliz Cooper, Christening Date 17 Nov 1719 St Martin's Church Desford f. Wm Copper

There is no mention of mothers name ( which is often the case with early baptisms) no marriages I can see of a Wm Cooper in St Martin's Church, so likely married in her parish

I can find no Joyce buried in Leicestershire, so would do more research based around Elizabeth Ship......however you may not find any of their childrens baptism records that has the mothers name on them

A William Cooper married Mary Frisby on 21st April 1707 in Newbold Verdon, approx two miles from Desford.

They had children William 1708, George 1711, John 1715 (transcribed as 1714) and Jone 1717 in Newbold

William had children John in 1714 and Elizabeth in 1719.

It is possibly the same family which lived between the villages and used both churches.

Hello David,

That sounds feasible especially the close proximity aspect.

Thanks so much,

Westy
