Occupation 1904
« on: Sunday 24 June 18 16:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

Was hoping somebody can help me decipher this from the occupation column of a marriage certificate dated 1904 in Lanark, Scotland.

It seems to say hairdresser / ????

Thanks for your help!

I think it says Hairdresser (Master)

I agree with you that it says 'Hairdresser' -- but I cannot decipher the other word after what I think is an oblique '/' sign I'm afraid.

JenB could well be correct with 'Master'.

Given that there appears to be a closing bracket after the word which I think is Master, I assumed that the mark before it was an opening bracket  :-\

JenB -----yes I see what you mean --- think you are probably right -- again!! This scribe must have liked straight bracket signs then, but curly letters.

He was out to confuse us -- well, me.
